All Eyes On Iowa

It's been an eratic primary season but the beginning of the end is almost upon us. This Friday is the Iowa caucus, which will either solidify a lead for Romney and weed out some of the lesser candidates or lead to a major upset and complicating an already circus-like primary season. According to Gallup Romney leads Gingrich 24% to 23% these numbers are well within the margin of error so Iowa is still to close to call. A few things are definite, however, like the withdrawl of Rick Santorum who has had some marginal gains but is still in single digit territory. Other candidates like Michelle Bachmann for example may also drop out. With Gingrich as the leading Anybody-But-Romney candidate those other dropouts may not bode well for Romney, especially in states like South Carolina. Romney maintains a considerable lead in the next battleground state New Hampshire where he plays well, conservative states like the aforementioned South Carolina my prove to be a pariah for Romney. However, Romney's campaign is well funded through the candidates own personal coffers as well as his PAC, not to mentioned well staffed with political all-stars many of which were responsible for George W. Bush's two winning elections. Though Gingrich's campaign draws many similarities to that of John McCain's who went on to win the Republican nomination. The next few months should prove to be a hard fought campaign and intersting to watch.
